2000年9月11日~12日に東海地方で発生した豪雨災害の特徴

Characteristics of Heavy Rainfall Disasters in Tokai District on September 11 to 12, 2000

Abstract

Heavy rainfall disaster occurred around Aichi prefecture including Nagoya City, central Japan on September 11 to 12, 2000. This report is a quick report on this disaster. Around Nagoya City, maximum 2 days, daily, and hourly precipitations were about 600 mm, 500 mm and 114 mm, respectively. They are the maximum records at Nagoya weather office since 1891. Due to this rainfall, 10 embankments collapsed and overtopping flow over embankment occurred in many places around Nagoya City. Many landslides occurred on East district of Aichi prefecture. According to Fire and Disaster Management Agency, 10 people died, about 310 houses were destroyed and about 71300 houses flooded. The figure of flooded houses is the largest during recent 10 years.
