雲仙普賢岳噴火で被災した島原市の復興に関する調査

Study on Recovery of Shimabara City Damaged by Volcanic Disaster of Mt.Fugen in Unzen

Abstract

The volcanic disaster of Mt. Fugen in Unzen was prolonged and enlarged more than five years. Shimabara clty and its people had suffered not only from repeated pyroclastic flows and debris flows but also from the marked decline of tourists. The volcanic disaster rendered severe bad effects on the local economy in commerce and industry. Several reconstruction and promotion plans to construct city with countermeasures against disasters were made by local governments. In this paper, we investigate civic life in Shimabara, consciousness of citizens about reconstruction plans, promotion plans and city planning after volcanic disaster by questionnaire survey. The paper clarifies and discusses present situations and problems about city life and resident's consciousness about various plans.
