Abstract

The analysis of the damages of water-supply pipes in Tokyo city due to the Kanto earthquake is discussed using Quantification Theory I. In the analysis of damage, Tokyo is divided into meshes of 1 km x 1 km, and each mesh is investigated by applying Quantification Theory I to seven items. By this analysis, a model for the prediction of seismic damages of water-supply pipes is determined and using this model, the authors have tried to predict the damage for water-supply pipes in the South-western part of Nagoya due to the predicted Tokai earthquake.
