RESIDUAL SOIL PROPERTIES AND THEIR RELATION TO SLOPE FAILURE PATTERNS
(Received 27 March, 1989 and in revised form September, 1989)
Abstract
Slope failures are frequent in the residual soils of Japan because of unusual soil characteristics that are not yet well understood exist. I have established a soil classification system based mainly on the physical properties of a soil. After examining the relation of soil properties to slope failure patterns, I concluded that the type of slope failure is closely related to the physical properties of the soil profile.
