Abstract
Recent studies on the relations between landslides and snowmelt are briefly reviewed. The landslides occur very often in Niigata Prefecture, where is most famous for much snow cover and many landslides in japan.
Five examples of landslides occured in snowmelting season wera introduced and the strongest dependence was observed between landslides occurrence and amount of snowmelt water. From the examples, however, the mechanism of landslide occurrence is not shown clear. Although there are many points which must be solved, a study of snowmelting water behaviour through the ground is most important problem.
