REGIONAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE MAXIMUM DEPTH OF SNOW COVER IN JAPAN

Abstract

The characteristics of snow cover depth in the main snow covered regions of Japan were determined from the annual maximum depths of snow cover. Variation, periodicity, correlation between stations and the interrelation of calculated statistics are discussed based on the theories of correlation functions. A description of regional characteristics was made using a statistical analysis.
